My name is Irma—I'm a social, energetic, and positive-minded person with diverse experience, from NGO work to logistics, and from translation to teaching Dutch to foreigners. With empathy and a healthy dose of humor, I strive to bring out the best in myself and others.
Over the past decade, my interest in languages has deepened as I became multilingual. I speak Dutch, Spanish, and English fluently, which has shown me how mastering a language can open doors globally. Dutch TeacherI have been teaching Dutch to friends, and friends of friends in my free time. I really love(d) it and decided to professionalize it. As of the beginning of 2020 this is my major job.
2013 - 2018
Project and Volunteer ManagerResponsible for coordinating events, planning and implementing projects with the children´s program. I was a teacher for children in the ages from 5 till 14 years old. The kids were Spanish or Mayan speaking and I taught them Spanish, English, and Dutch.
Also responsible for the volunteer recruiting process and and managing volunteer schedules, training, and support. I ensured that volunteers were effectively integrated into the program and that their contributions were maximized.

Estoy muy contenta desde que empecé a tomar clases con Irma, desde que estoy asistiendo a sus lecciones, mi conocimiento, confianza y manejo del idioma ha mejorado muchisimo, Irma es flexible, amable, tiene un amplio conocimiento y siempre aprendo cosas nuevas o como desenvolverme en situaciones coloquiales, por lo mismo sigo y seguiré con ella para mejorar mi neerlandés.

Het is heel fijn om Irma als lerares te hebben, ik voel me heel vrij om me te uiten en we praten altijd over veel dingen, het belangrijkste is de kwaliteit en ze geeft ALTIJD kwaliteitslessen. Ze gebruikt een document waarin ze alle fouten opschrijft en ze legt ze altijd uit, ze heeft echt plezier in het lesgeven en dat is duidelijk! :)

Laatste les van het "10-lessen pakketje" en ik ben er echt blij mee :) Irma heeft altijd een goede stemming en is erg pedagoog, het is altijd een plezier om Nederlands met haar te leren. Ik kijk uit naar veel meer lessen samen!

Irma is an excellent teacher who makes lessons fun, as well as educational and constructive. As a beginner who is new to the Dutch language, I find Irma's teaching style and choice of lesson material is well tailored to my own learning objectives and current abilities. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her!
