In 2014 I met my professional TPRS coach and had the opportunity to join a Training Summer Camp in Hawaii two years later.  It completely changed my teaching style. It meant a lot to me to observe and practice these skills with other teachers together. Since then, I have been polishing my skills through CI conferences and writing groups.

Thus, it sounds very different from tone languages such as Mandarin Chinese or Cantonese. In tone languages, pitch (the degree of highness or lowness of a tone) is used to distinguish word meaning. So a word said with high pitch may have a different meaning than the same word said with a low pitch. ☆ In English, much information is carried by the use of auxiliaries and by verb inflections: is/are/were, eat/eats/ate/eaten, etc. Chinese, on the other hand, is an uninflected language and conveys meaning through word order, adverbials or shared understanding of the context.
