I love listening to old rock and prog rock, playing guitar and playing games.
Also, I'm passionate about coffee.
Recently I've been playing Zelda TotK, Apex Legends and Valorant.
My favourite manga and anime are Hunter Hunter and Naruto.
For several years, I lived in London and Dublin.
Also, I write a blog about life in the UK and Ireland and the English language.
Before living in London, I worked as a sound engineer, so I'm interested in having conversations about music and sound-related topics!
When I was a student I worked as a barista during which time I got a European barista qualification.
So I can talk about coffee too :)

Tôi với tư cách là giáo viên
I have experience in teaching languages to a wide variety of people.
I can therefore advise on how to motivate learners and their individual goals.
I like new cultures and games, so I could also teach new words such as Japanese internet slang.
I also have experience teaching English at an English school in Japan for beginners.
I continue to learn English.
Language is a living thing and constantly evolves.
I believe learning a language never ends apart from the goals that you set for yourself.
And as a learner, I understand how my students feel.
As a native Japanese speaker, I would like to help Japanese language learners as much as possible.
Phong cách dạy & bài học của tôi
I think the most important thing about language learning is continuing and acquiring practical skills. Also, learn while having fun.
I focus on speaking because that skill could be the hardest to practice on your own whereas vocabulary and writing and reading are things you could study by yourself.
In my class, the atmosphere is like a relaxed coffee break.
The purpose is to bring out your true potential without tension.
I would like to provide lessons that are all about the student's purpose.
I will motivate and support you!
My favourite Japanese quote is "塵も積もれば山となる".
It means like "Rome wasn't built in a day"!
So I believe language learning is exactly little by little to growing up!

Best Japanese teacher! She’s patient, flexible, friendly, and great at coming up with topics to discuss that are appropriate for your level. I always improve! Thanks Isla Sensei, see you in class.

Isla is taking the time to help me re-learn a lot of Japanese fundamentals from the beginning. She is able to adjust the pace to my existing understanding and knowledge and I have confidence that I'll quickly be able to reach the level that I should be at. She is very kind which puts my anxiety at ease, and good at explaining in both Japanese and English (when required). We have conversations like I would with a friend. This motivates me to try harder every day to do better in the next lesson.

I like the fact that Isla sensei explains the grammar and clarifies difficult points using easy Japanese and only if you really don't get it she switches briefly to English :)

I always enjoy my lessons with Isla because she makes me feel so at ease speaking in Japanese - I'm not afraid of making mistakes! She is also great at allowing the conversations and lessons to be guided where I would like to take them and is always open to what I suggest, whether that be reviewing a piece of writing I've done, answering my grammar questions or learning important phrases for travel. I look forward to many more lessons with Isla! :)
