My name is Ivona and I am from Portugal. I am a native European Portuguese speaker. I have a University degree in Culture of Science and a Certification as a non-formal teacher. I consider myself very patient, enthusiastic and a dedicated teacher, who wants all students to be successful learners. I love traveling, reading, watching movies, trekking and exercising outdoors. My passion for traveling gave me plenty of knowledge about different cultures. That resulted on me having a different perspective of the world and being curious to learn from each individual.

With my experience I believe communication and practice is the best way to learn a new language and to make a person succeed. I am here to work with you and to adapt to your needs as a beginner or as an intermediate learner. This is an amazing opportunity for you to learn or improve a new language and to understand a little about the Portuguese culture and the country itself.

Derslerim ve öğretme tarzım

My lessons are based on student's goals and interests. I adapt the way I teach to each person providing different teaching styles and methods. I will focus more on casual conversations, work with the pronunciation and phonetic and exercise the grammar and the vocabulary. Being a native European Portuguese speaker I do believe it is an advantage for you to be successful to learn this language.

Muito obrigado Sra. Ivona! If anyone is looking for a new Portuguese teacher, look no further! I have taken countless of lessons from different teachers here on Italki, and nobody stands close to Sra. Ivona. As a complete beginner I must say I am very pleased with the first two lessons we have completed. Sra. Ivona forces me to speak a lot during our lessons, and her lessons are both structural and easy to understand (even though everything is taught in Portuguese! (my request)). She uses both her own materials, as well as other books to work on different grammar points. I feel like I get a lot out of every lesson, and I am looking forward to continue working with Sra. Ivona to improve my Portuguese. I recommend this teacher to anyone seeking a positive, structural and engaging teacher.
