Hi! I am Tako, a native Japanese teacher. I was born in San Francisco and came back to Japan when I was 5. I’ve been living in Hiroshima ever since. I have a degree in English literature and I love studying phonetics. Learning about the unique sounds of each language has been one of my passion.
I have experience learning English, French, and so on. That’s why I understand how language learning can be tough, but also fulfilling. I am a very friendly and patient teacher. I’ve been a language teacher for more than 20 years and I love it! I taught students from one-year-old kids to adults in person. For online lessons, I usually teach students from eight-year-old to adults.
There's nothing like seeing my students getting excited about learning Japanese in my class. It gives me such a sense of accomplishment.

My lesson focus is the conversation mainly. I use the Genki textbook for beginner students at first. This is because I would like you to strengthen the foundation of basic Japanese skills first so that you could use practical Japanese in the future. For the kids' learners, I use traditional Japanese songs, games, and fun activities.
However, the most important thing is to MAKE MANY MISTAKES!! Nobody is perfect at talking perfectly in a foreign language from the beginning and that is why I am here for you :) I will support you when you need help so don’t worry! I can't wait to see you in my lesson soon!!!Meu material de ensino

Tako-sensei is an excellent teacher! She is friendly, encouraging, and patient in her teaching style. I have some limited experience speaking Japanese, and she adapted quickly to meet me at my level and help me learn.
