I stick to the 9 classical principles of education: gaining attention, informing the learner of the objective, stimulating recall of prerequisite learned capabilities, presenting the stimulus material, providing learning guidance, eliciting the performance, providing feedback, assessing, enhancing retention, and transfer to the job. The last one is the most important!
