Pablo Ibáñez

Pablo is an expert on theory, both in languages and music. I learned so much on how to improve my Spanish to sound more natural and also enjoy Spanish culture through the art of Flamenco. ¡Muchas gracias de nuevo!

Pablo is always very well prepared with a variety of resources to fill you in on the thornier aspects of Catalan grammar and pronunciation. He also has a superb knowledge of English which allows him to draw clear and helpful analogies between the two languages, as well as of course to help you find the right word in any situation. Furthermore, he is always friendly and energetic, and makes sure you are an equal participant in the conversation regardless of your current level. I’ve had a good number of lessons with him now and my Catalan has progressed from a couple of words to effective conversational fluency in the span of a few months. He comes highly recommended!

Pablo's classes are always fun, and can be structured or unstructured depending on your needs. I am at a fairly advanced level, and he has a deep fund of knowledge of grammar and syntax and of linguistics in general. So much of the time is conversational, but when I am taking a deep-dive into grammar he is able to provide all sorts of relevant materials that are useful and never intimidating. He is a great teacher for any level of student.

I have completed a few lessons of basic Japanese grammar/verbs with Pablo and it has reinvigorated my Japanese studies! I am not a complete beginner from zero but am definitely still a beginner who lost momentum with my studies for a year and didn't know where to start again. Pablo excels at breaking down Japanese grammar very simply and teaching me basic conjugations. My focus is on speaking and listening and he's very willing to tailor the lessons, which can be rare because most teachers are just used to working through a book. Pablo is always thinking on the fly and can pivot to dive deeper into a concept if we want to go down a tangent. What's great is that he can also compare Japanese grammar to English or Spanish (which I have also studied with him) and that helps solidify the concepts and improve my Spanish at the same time.

Pablo is very kind, informative and asks questions that make you think. I’ve learned important phrases and grammar that will definitely elevate my learning. I’ve also learned some vocabulary, some based on my interests (in tech/games/movies/everyday life and hobbies). For my first tutoring lesson, I am very excited and will be booking another lesson with him again!
