My name is Annemarie and I currently live in Johannesburg, South Africa. I have around 23 years of general teaching experience as well as 5 years as an Italki Conversational language teacher. My hobbies include hiking, reading and watching good films. I have been married for 49 years and I have two children as well as two grandchildren. I am passionate about my work and it gives me such joy to assist my students to speak English or Afrikaans fluently. I would describe my teaching style as very interactive. I prefer to create a teaching environment that encourages critical thinking and elicits responses from my students rather than having them merely retain and repeat information. I make use of different websites and encourage my students to read to improve both vocabulary and fluency. And then: revise, revise, revise!Mijn lessen en manier van lesgeven
My lessons are tailor made to suite the individual needs of my students. My lessons are interactive and inclusive and I use a conversational approach rather than a lecturing approach, depending on the interests and goals of my students. I think that I have an edge because, after a lesson where grammar was included, I usually do an audio version of the lesson materials so that my students have the correct pronunciation on their WhatsApp profiles on their mobile phones.
