Moi, I'm Pinja and I was born and raised in Finland. When working with immigrants, I got interested in teaching languages. In 2015 I started teaching Finnish in a refugee center. Later I got my certificate in teaching. I have experience teaching Finnish in traditional classroom setting and in giving private lessons. For me it’s rewarding to watch the students to reach their goals and to integrate more to the society.
For me, learning languages opens doors to new and exciting cultures. I enjoy talking with the locals, eating in hidden restaurants and hiking in the unbeaten paths.Ik als leerkracht
I have a degree in Social Science and a I’m a certified teacher. I got my teacher certificate in 2015 and since then I have been teaching Finnish and English. I enjoy giving private lessons, because this way I'm able to personalize the lessons for the student’s goals and interests. In addition I have worked with schools and companies providing group and individual lessons. I also have written language books for Finnish students.
As a teacher, I believe that I can help the students to grow as learners and to reach their goals. I'm passionate about education and always strive to do the best for my students. I personalize lessons for each student according to their needs and interests.Mijn lessen en manier van lesgeven
I would like to support you to meet your individual learning goals; whether you aim to learn grammar, specific vocabulary, conversational skills etc. The aim of the first lesson is to evaluate your level and to set up learning goals. We will talk about the different ways of learning (visual, auditory, reading/writing and kinesthetic) and make a plan according to your learning style and preferences. I believe that using different engaging activities keep students interested, motivated and support their learning. During the lessons we can use different materials: books, exercises, articles, listening and conversational, games, music and videos. I have made a lot of authentic materials.Mijn lesmateriaal

Pinja has been my teacher for one year now, and in a week I am moving to Finland. She is an incredible teacher, always takes time to explain everything and is really nice if I don't understand it and need to go over it again. Besides being patient and kind, the classes are usually really fun, especially the conversation ones, in which we usually laugh a lot and I learn by actually speaking the language. Overall, she is a really awesome person and teacher, could not recommend her more!!

Pinja is so supportive! Thanks to our lessons and her supportive attitude, I have significantly improved my conversational skills in Finnish. The change is really noticeable - before I couldn’t say a word in Finnish even though I knew some grammar and vocabulary, but now I can already handle different types of conversations! And now it feels great and fun to learn Finnish as never before because I can engage more in longer conversations with native speakers. Thank you, Pinja!

Pinja is a very likeable person and an attentive teacher. She takes your needs seriously and is ready to help you out with whatever language problems you have. She makes you speak even if you think you can't. She corrects you gently but efficiently. I am very happy with my first lesson and am looking forward to next ones. Kiitos paljon!

Suomi Clubi with Pinja was really fun! Every time we speak about a certain topic, for which we get additional material in advance. The best for me was: You can practice speaking in a save environment without being afraid of making mistakes.

Pinja is a great teacher! I had only 2 lessons so far but I feel like I practiced a lot within 2 hours, overall I enjoyed it so far and didn't notice how the time flew by. It helps me to build my confidence, learn new words and work on my grammar. The lesson always has a plan or structure, Pinja is very supportive and keeps asking many questions so you can practice speaking as much as possible.
