I come from Serbia and live in Greece. I have a Bachelor's degree in modern Greek language and literature at the Belgrade University of Philology, and have additionally completed two international programs in Greek at the Aristotle University and ΙΜΧΑ (Institute for Balkan Studies). I am currently doing my Master's degree in History, Anthropology, and Culture in Eastern and Southeastern Europe at the University of Macedonia.
I am a passionate language enthusiast and am familiar with all the wonders and struggles of learning a new language. But fear not! It is all just a game.😉Ik als leerkracht
I find that the most effective way to learn a language is to fully immerse oneself in the local culture. Although grammar is a ~boring~ but necessary part of any language learning process, listening and speaking are just as important, if not even more so.
I have been teaching Greek and Serbian for more than two years.
My Greek classes are a perfect fit for beginners and intermediate students, as I have learned the language myself and know a perfect way to get you out of the trenches. 😎 My Serbian classes are better suited for advanced students who are looking for conversational classes. In my Greek classes, depending on which type you choose, we will focus on all the difficult aspects of grammar, and you will get plenty of worksheets and homework to help you better understand the structure of the language. If you find grammar boring, you can always choose a more relaxed - conversation-based class where we'll focus on listening and reading.
As for my Serbian classes, I offer both conversational as well as structured, grammar-driven classes. I firmly believe that the only way for someone to master a new language is by carefully choosing the right way to do so, instead of blindly sticking to old-fashioned "rules". The best lessons I've ever had.
For the past two years, I tried group lessons and various individual teachers but wasn't satisfied with the results and saw almost no progress. It was only when I started learning Serbian with Nevena that I began to notice significant improvements and progress.
During our first lesson, Nevena understood my expectations and tailored our course to meet my needs. She consistently prepares excellent materials, which are impressive because they always align with my interests and skill level. This is incredible because the themes she selects keep me engaged during our lessons, and her precise choice of materials keeps me motivated, as I can see my progress day by day.
After 10 lessons, I can confidently say that Nevena is the best teacher I've ever had, and I highly recommend her lessons to anyone who wants to learn Serbian.

Nevena is a fantastic teacher! She's engaged, committed, and extremely flexible - she's willing and able to work in different ways with different students, and adapt seamlessly to different personality. Beyond that, she's just plain fun to work with. I can't recommend her too highly!

Nevena continues to support my language-learning with her effective, well-structured lessons. Her explanations of the grammar and lexicon, especially, include helpful cultural contexts that strengthen my sense of immediacy and engagement with the Greek language and its speakers. Each time we meet, I am reminded of the reasons that I began learning Greek in the first place and what compels me to keep going 🌅.

Nevena is a fantastic teacher! I've been working with her for nearly a year, and there's a lot that I like about her approach.
But the thing that stands out most to me is her flexibility. She doesn't try to fit me into a per-arranged box about how I should learn. I've learned a lot of languages in my time, and I know what works for me - Nevena supports that and works in a way that best helps me meet my goals.
I can't recommend her too highly!
