¡La clase con Jhon fue genial! Me ayudó a practicar español a través del diálogo, me dejó hablar, me escuchó atentamente y me ayudó a formular frases en español. También hablamos de otras clases con él. Estuve muy contenta con mi clase con Jhon y seguiré estudiando con él.

In addition to the Quechua language, Jhon teaches a lot of valuable things about how to interact with Quechua speaking people. They have a lot of love, and you need to show respect, confidence and affection with them. People greet each other with an overjoyed tone of voice as if they haven't seen each other in a long time. This comes from having previously lived in isolated houses set far apart from each other. Lift your hat when you greet someone to show deference (good reason to wear a hat). People will be happy and understand you when you put emotion into your voice. When you meet someone, you should compliment them, based on something they do and are proud of: their hand woven clothes, their hard farm work, their strength. When you don't know how to say something complicated in Quechua, try to think of a poetic, metaphoric, or figurative way to say it.

I had a great first lesson with Jhon and really appreciated his help in improving my Spanish pronunciation. He is a good communicator and teacher and I look forward to more lessons. I recommend him to anyone who wants to improve their Spanish or learn Quechua.
