My name is Bob and I’m born and raised in the South of The Netherlands. Besides being an iTalki teacher, I’m a professional musician, after having graduated from my Bachelor of Music, at the Rock Academy in 2019. My professional life brought me to several countries and cultures. So it happened that, during my study, I got to live and work in Berlin & London, Europe’s two most vibrant music cities. After I started to tour intensively throughout the UK and northern Europe, with my London-based band The Gulls, my fascination for different cultures and languages started to evolve big time. After having had 15 years of experience teaching music, it goes without saying that I really enjoy passing on knowledge to others. Throughout the years I learned how important it is to keep lessons enjoyable, but challenging at the same time. Being a musician, I obviously incorporate musical elements into my lessons, which will run like a main thread throughout all my lessons. By figuring out what exactly you would like to learn and paving the way towards reaching this goal with lots of fun and laughs along the way, I’m confident that my classes will provide you with the skills to feel comfortable with the Dutch language!Mijn lessen en manier van lesgeven
During my lessons, my main aim is to help you feel confident about your Dutch and enjoy the ride whilst we get there. We are going to explore the Dutch language by chatting about lots of different things. Increasing your vocabulary will therefore happen instantly, by speaking about lots of different topics, like trending stuff that is happening in The Netherlands, or in the world in general. Besides that, we are going to speak about the Dutch culture, as well as looking into your grammar skills whilst doing that. Germanic languages have the reputation of being difficult, but I am going to prove that they can be really fun too! Because having fun and excelling in something often go together!Mijn lesmateriaal

I've had another lesson with Bob, and once again, it was a great experience. The conversation flowed naturally, which made it easy to practice speaking and get more comfortable with the language. Bob provided corrections when needed, explained the relevant rules clearly, and offered helpful example sentences. I’m looking forward to our next lesson!

I had a trial lesson with Bob today while looking for a teacher matching my new schedule. Prior to the lesson Bob was flexible and friendly, as well as during the lesson where he adapted to my level and was diligent with his explanations. He speaks at a natural pace but remains intelligible, which makes for great practice. Nogmaals bedankt Bob!

I’ve had 2 lessons with Bob and I’m going to book next lessons. I felt comfortable speaking. Bob gives both theory and practical skills. He speaks to my level of knowledge. I appreciate that Bob encourages me and gives Dutch idioms or says how the Dutch would have said that. It helps me to learn how to sound authentic and correct. Highly recommend this teacher☀️
