Hello, my name is Bergur.
I live in the capital city in the Faroe Islands, Tórshavn, in a cozy apartment in the same house as my parents. From here, I have direct access to our cozy backyard with.
The skyline from my solid living room window is formed by six humble rows of life-affirming potato plants surrounded by a beautiful DIY pallet-sized greenhouse which was the pride of my summer last year. It's still standing strong.
Finding new hobbies and interests comes easily to me. I'm not a specialist in any area, but I have something about everything and consider myself a student of life.
I am fond of language, history and culture in general. I'm always studying one or two languages.Ik als leerkracht
I try to embrace diversity (Faroese: "Fjølbroytni", Danish: "Mangfoldighed") by simply being myself.
I love how languages share so many similarities that can be analysed and interpreted. One of my favourite things is to uncover a unique trait is uncovered, some description or nuance that I didn’t know existed and that can help me appreciate life and the world in an even broader way (no pun intended).
I believe that languages are the peak of human civilisations’ endeavours to distill existence as we experience it, felt or imagined into a concentrate or an essence that can be displayed for prestige or even better, humbly handed down to future generations.Mijn lessen en manier van lesgeven
I use examples and analogies and I like to include personal stories into my lessons. I think that almost everything can be a learning experience.
I can teach using English, Faroese or Danish. I'm a nurse, so not an actual teacher.
My focus is to adjust each lesson to each individual student. I try to assess my student's level and disposition and I try to be mindful of their goals. I'm also open to a more dynamic learning experience or other alternatives if the student prefers that.
From what I have been told, I am good at teaching pronunciation.

It has been such a great, informative past (2) months learning Faroese with you, Bergur. I feel confident in what I am saying and trying to convey. Still plenty of more advanced discussions and grammar to be had, but such a great foundation. I will be practicing as much as possible while í Havn og vit síggjast skjótt!

How often is it the case that your teacher can reference a saga that has anything even slightly to do with one's jobs. (In this case, seals, or rather kópakonan, a saga about a seal woman). As a fan of legends and sagas I was very happy for this turn of events. Bergur is so flexible in his teaching that I'm positive he can turn absolutely anything into a learning opportunity!

Bergur can speak in different accents, from the old days and modern ones. It was such a unique lesson experience with full immersion in history and life of the islands.
I will recommend this to everyone. I learned a lot of words, phrases and learned about culture and life on Faroe Islands.

Bergur er mín bróðir. Hann er bestur kennari á italki, enn hann er tann BERT kennari í Føroyskum. Tungumálið Føroyskt er tórført orð eru seig at tosa men ið tú fara til Føroya og lærir við hann, tú kann tosar og dugir væl.

Bergur is my brother. He is the best teacher of Italian, yet he is the ONLY teacher of Faroese. The language Faroese is difficult words are tough to speak but if you go to Faroe Islands and learn with him, you can speak and do well.
