Yasuka

Yasuka? More like YASSSSSSSSuka! This phenomenal tutor is everything you could want in a tutor, and more. Equipped & certified to teach both Japanese AND English, she is exceptional at navigating a wide range of linguistic levels. Not only that, but she is already familiar with a wide variety of resources, and has even compiled HER OWN resources!!! I could not recommend her more highly. My only complaint is that her time zone results in me having my lessons at 10:00pm, which is definitely less than ideal. That being said, I've just booked another 5 lessons for 午後十時, so that should say something (I think I've finished 10 or so lessons so far). I could keep ranting, but I'll just recommend that you take a few lessons with her yourself--- 頑張って! Sincerely, a grateful Japanese language newbie. (ps: If you're going to japan, her knowledge-- along with her "[last minute trip to Japan travel guide]" is extremely helpful!!!)

I am a beginner student and Yasuka and I are working through the Genki I textbook. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about her teaching. She explains each grammar point as presented in Genki effectively and concisely. She then provides you with even more context, rule exceptions, and real world applications. I consider myself a curious student and Yasuka always takes the time to answer my (many) questions and I really appreciate that. I always look forward to our lessons! If you are a beginner student like myself, I cannot recommend Yasuka enough. She will provide the guidance and focus that you need to improve week by week.

I’ve been working with Yasuka for a couple of months now and am feeling more confident in understanding and speaking Japanese everyday, the lessons have quickly become a highlight of my week. I am always impressed with her ability to foresee where I will have difficulties as a native English speaker and guide me through them. I highly recommend working with Yasuka if you wish to learn Japanese and have fun along the way.

This is my 6th class with Yasuka-sensei! I'm a total beginner in Japanese but Yasuka-san is very understanding and helpful with me during our classes. I told her my goals and she's able to provide me an overview on how I can achieve them clearly and realistically. I'm so glad that she understands me since Day 1, answers all my questions and motivates me even with my doubts and challenges in learning. She doesn't like over "motivates" me in a way that I'll think that THIS is easy "easy" (because learning new language is hard!) but with her, she always explains the lessons in a way that I will get the context or remember how to use it. Her way of teaching works for me because understanding the foundation is what matters most! And she really speaks English so well; that's actually the main reason why I took my chances with her. I'm a total beginner and learning Japanese with English speaker is not too overwhelming for me. I will continue learning with her, for sure. :)

Yasuka is great to work with and brings a calming energy to our sessions! She is helping with both my grammar knowledge as well as growing my conversation skills. Yasuka came up with a great plan for me to improve my Japanese ahead of my upcoming trip there. I highly recommend her to anyone looking to learn more.
