Hi! My name is Yun Xian. I am a Chinese native speaker and a Chinese language teacher with more than 20 years teaching experience after I majored Chinese language and literature in the university. I am qualified with teaching position by Ministry of Education of China with a teacher's qualification license since 2003. I hold a Spoken Chinese Proficiency Certificate from State Language Commission, which is an approval that I speak standard Mandarin without any regional accent. My lessons are fun and designed around the needs and preferences of each individual student. Lessons are based on a communicative approach with the student doing most of the talking. The goal is to develop the student's skills and abilities through guided and open practice with feedback and analysis. She is the best teacher I've ever had. She's very professional and she's knowledgeable not only about the language but also about the culture and history of China. She makes learning Chinese interesting and fun, she's always engaging and enthusiastic. With her I'm learning at a much greater pace than I ever thought would be possible.

Yun Xian‘s Pronunciation Course is probably one of the best Mandarin course's found on italki. Every lesson with Yun is excellent. Her lesson's are challenging and enjoyable. I highly recommend Yun to anyone studying Mandarin regardless of your level of learning!

For help with instruction, Yunxian offers the best of both direct instruction and "learn by doing." She presents brief explanations through her expert, custom-designed materials, then offers clever methods whereby students can self-instruct and self-correct (ask about the spoon!). Students practice immediately with syllables, words, and phrases, carefully selected by Yunxian to demonstrate nuances in sounds, again with her custom-designed materials. Yunxian is an expert, skilled, engaging, supportive instructor and I treasure the opportunity to work with her.

Yun Xian is an incredibly gifted teacher. I've been taking lessons from her for a few months now and I feel far more confident speaking and reading Chinese. I appreciate how patient she is, how thorough, and how seriously she takes my journey to learning Chinese. I often ask cultural or etymological questions and Yun Xian surprised me with her extensive knowledge. You can expect to learn far more than just textbook Chinese with her!
