My first lesson with Kai was excellent! I can tell he genuinely cares about his students' language-learning goals. He is very patient and informative. Looking forward to future lessons!

I've had more than 10 mandarin lessons and 6 hokkien lessons with Kai. My main goal was to improve my vocabulary in preparation for a trip to Taiwan, firstly to be able to converse better with my extended family, secondly to be able to talk about the work that I do, and thirdly to improve my traditional character reading. Most of our lessons are conversation based, with some related reading or listening materials. Kai always quickly types new vocab in both hanzi and pinyin which helps me a lot. The best thing from our lessons is that I feel comfortable asking questions no matter how stupid or basic they may seem. And I also feel comfortable trying my best to construct sentences even when I fail miserably. I'm extremely happy with the progress I've made, which has also been noticeable to my family. Most recently, with some vocabulary help from Kai, I was able to give a speech fully in mandarin at an exhibition opening in Tainan. That may be my proudest moment this year.

I’ve taken lessons with Kai for a while now and can say he’s hands down one of the best teachers. Super reliable; really great at leading a lesson; always listening and giving encouragement; and he asks some great questions. Not to mention tailoring each and every lesson to make it a perfect fit. Overall nice guy and a great teacher! Perfect for anyone wanting to learn Mandarin or Taiwanese at any level and worth every penny. 10/10, 5/5⭐️!

I had my first Chinese lesson on this app and was feeling a little nervous not knowing what to expect. I really enjoyed my intro class with Kai Laoshi. He was very patient listening to my learning goals and put me at ease with his calm, genuine personality. I’m looking forward to taking more classes!

I had a very entertaining first lecture of Taiwanese Hokkien in English with Kai. He has an encouraging and positive way of guiding the unit, a good pace and gave me many high quality resources for practicing for future lessons. Despite the complexity of sounds I could understand him very well as a teacher( and technically).
