I’ve been working on italki for nearly five years. I’ve taught hundreds of students here, and I have become friends with many of them. I am interested in their lives and their studies or work, and we always have a great time in class. During our class, we will use Google Spreadsheet to record the words and sentences we have learned so that you can easily refer to it for review. He was a beginner to Chinese when we started, but now he can communicate effectively with Chinese companies without needing a translator. I also taught English to middle school students. They were very engaged and excited in my class because they always paid a lot attention to either win a game or complete a task. As a languege learner myself, I believe that having fun in the learning process is very important to keep the motivation up and up.

I faced difficulties learning languages. I still do, actually. Language is primarily a tool of communication. Its purpose is to exchange information. Therefore, speaking and listening should make up the lion share of your study. That's what a tutor is for! As for vocabulary, we often memorize individual words, only to forget them soon after. I believe reading articles of your level (or slightly higher) is a much more efficient way to come across phrases and words in context. Context is everything!
