Hi there! I'm Emi.
I'm here to help you learn to speak Japanese more naturally!
I was born and raised in Japan, and so my mother tongue is Japanese. I now live in Yokohama.
In 2023, I graduated from a university in Kyoto. I mainly studied English literature and in my media culture minor I also studied Japanese linguistics.
What is the purpose of your Japanese studies? Let me know!
To accomplish your purpose, let's have fun learning Japanese together!
I'll do everything I can! :)

Moi en tant que professeur
私は高校や大学で留学生に日本語を教えてきました。この経験を通して、私は日本語学習者の皆さんにとって日本語を身につけることがどれほど大変なことなのかを知りました。
私は皆さんのペースに合わせて日本語を話します。わからないところは皆さんにちゃんと理解してもらえるまで丁寧にゆっくり説明します。私がなんていったかわからなかった箇所は他の日本語で言い換えるか、英語で言い換えることもできます。
I have taught international students Japanese at high school and university. Through this experience, I realized how hard it was for Japanese learners to acquire the ability to speak Japanese.
I will speak Japanese at your level. When you have something you don’t understand, I will explain kindly until you truly understand. I can rephrase what I said using plain Japanese or English if you want.
Mes leçons et ma méthode d'enseignement
私のレッスンは会話が中心です。
初級者から上級者まで歓迎します!
不自然な言い回しや発音、文法的なミスがあったら、指摘し訂正します。
リラックスした雰囲気のレッスンなので、間違いを恐れず、むしろたくさん間違えてくれてOKです^ ^
私はレッスン中たくさんチャットにメモを残すので、復習してください。知識を定着させ、それを活かしてくれれば皆さんの日本語はみるみる上達しますよ!(^^♪
My lessons will be mainly free conversation.
I'll welcome all-level learners!
Whenever you say unnatural expressions, mis-pronounce, or make grammatical mistakes, I'll point out and correct them.
The atmosphere in my lesson is very relaxing, so please don’t be afraid of making mistakes! Or rather, it's okay to make many mistakes! ^ ^
I'll take many notes in the chat during a lesson, so please review what you've learned. If you retain knowledge and make use of it, your Japanese will rapidly improve!

Every lesson with Emi-san is full of laughter and I feel really accomplished when we finish. We are now having bits of conversation in simple Japanese, something I wasn't sure I'd ever been able to do, and it's all thanks to her enthusiasm and niceness that motivates me to keep up studying.

This teacher is really fantastic. She will often point out things that you do that sound non-native, so you can perfect your linguistic ability and sound more like a native Japanese. It is hard to find a teacher that points such things out. I definitely recommend this teacher.

Great lesson with Emi! We started with a quiz to review lesson 5 grammar and vocabulary. Emi always seems to know when I need to review. I know it's because she wants me to improve and keep going - she is really excellent that way! We also learned a lot of new grammar points in lesson 6.
