Anna

Since beginning lessons with Anna, I have made tremendous progress in learning Ukrainian. Like many English speakers, my knowledge of grammar is weak, but to understand how to use cases in Ukrainian, sometimes you really need to understand the parts of a sentence. Anna is great at teaching this. She is also very responsive to requests. I asked her if we could spend one lesson a week on reading, and she has been super-helpful with that. She even put a huge amount of effort into creating an online reading course built around the classic story "The Little Prince", which I wanted to read. I am so happy I found Anna here on iTalki. She is a gem.

Another fantastic lesson with Anna, I enjoy being tutored by Anna for several months now. She has the unique skill to create lessons that match your language level perfectly and keep you extremely motivated. She notices what works best for you and adopts the lessons so that you can take a maximum out of it. Contemporary and fun videos, interesting articles and useful textbooks are integrated into her lessons. As a teacher, she is very skilled, likable and also a little bit strict (just as much as you need your language teacher to be in order to succeed ;) After your first few lessons with Anna, you will know exactly why I recommend her strongly to anyone who is serious about language learning.

I had the privilege of worked with Anna 3x/week for a little over a month, and I can tell you that that was the best money I ever spent. Anna is exceptional. The quantity of resources in her possession is unheard of, and she uses them to make sure that her students get the best possible experiences during their Russian learning. She has cool multimedia-based lessons and homework assignments, as well. She gives homework if you want homework, and she grades it promptly with clear explanations for mistakes. She also makes it a point to have students talk in the target language as much as possible, but her English is very fluent, so if you a need to switch to English, she can do so easily, though she works to get back to Russian as soon as possible. I would recommend Anna to anyone. I would even recommend her over the majority of in-person instructors. She makes the technology work for her students in a way that in-person instruction never could.

Today we watched a video together--a documentary about the spread of the Ukrainian language since independence-- and Anna broke it down for me phrase by phrase. I could not have understood it by myself. I was getting half the words, but she helped me with the rest, and with understanding the context. A great learning experience!

600 abgeschlossene Russischstunden mit Anna- es gibt wohl kaum eine bessere Referenz! Seit über 5 Jahren lerne ich mit Anna Russisch. Ich erlebe Anna als eine sehr engagierte, professionell vorbereitete und einfühlsame Online-Lehrerin. Wichtig ist für mich, dass unser Unterricht jeweils einen „roten Faden“ aufweist. Ihren strukturierten Unterrichtsstil, die interaktiven und abwechslungsreichen Lektionen machen die Lektionen lebendig und sind daher nie langweilig. Man spürt, dass Anna mit ganzem Herzen und viel Enthusiasmus ihre Arbeit liebt. Sie ist zudem immer perfekt vorbereitet und stellt die Bedürfnisse und den Lernerfolg in den Mittelpunkt und hilft gelegentliche Motivationskrisen wieder zu überwinden. Ebenso schätze ich unsere spontanen Ausflüge in die ukrainische/russische Kultur, Anna geht nicht nur sprachlich, sondern auch auf eine pädagogisch gute, lockere und humorvolle Art auf meine Bedürfnisse ein.

Today's lesson was hard work, but that's good. Anna maintained good humour and coaxed me to keep trying by asking a series of questions designed to test my understanding of the text we'd be reading and to retell parts of it in my own words. Lessons where I struggle as as beneficial as those which seem less difficult, and Anna has this knack of always being there to keep me trying.
