Mohammed

Mohammed is an extremely helpful and talented teacher who is always willing to review work or answer questions outside of class time. He is incredibly knowledgeable about MSA grammar and uses a great combination of explanations and examples. I would highly recommend him!

As usual, today's lesson with Mohammed was great. We mainly just had a conversation, pausing sometimes for Mohammed to explain a new word I hadn't know before. I appreciate Mohammed's patience, depth of knowledge, and attention to detail when addressing grammatical mistakes or explaining a pattern in the language.

Arabisch, so sagt man, ist eine sehr schwierige Sprache. Mit Muhammad als Lehrer und Gesprächspartner macht man aber trotzdem recht mühelos Fortschritte. Seit etwa 2.5 Monaten machen wir jede Woche eine Stunde. Mein Wortschatz wird immer grösser, Verben sind kein Problem mehr, und Sprechen wird immer einfacher. Ich bin kein Sprachtalent, um so mehr freue ich mich solche Fortschritte zu spüren.

Today I had another great lesson with Mohammed, with conversation in Arabic that taught me a lot and continued reading of the new text we started last week, a short story written in Lebanese Arabic that takes place in Beirut. Some of the new words and phrases I learned included يدافع عن (defend), عِيادِة بَيْطريّة (veterinary clinic), and لمناطِق الريفيّة (rural places).

Today was another great lesson with Mohammed. We conversed about a number of topics and then started reading a new text: a short story about two friends living in Beirut (and cats). Mohammed taught me many useful words, including اِحْتِفالات و مِهْرَجانات (celebrations and festivals), كَزْدورَة (walking/riding/driving around), and مهضوم ("digested"— a slang word meaning a person is cool / nice to be around).

Mohammed is a truly great teacher, patient, understanding and I always look forward to our sessions. He really understands his students needs and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to others
