My name is Vanesa Zapata. I'm 28 years old, I'm from Medellín but right now I'm living in Argentina. I'm here doing my professional studies to become a professional Spanish teacher. I'm very patient. I have a lot of respect for this profession so I try to improve every day and learn as much as I can. I keep up to date with the latest language education programs and methods. About me: I love art - every kind of art - but my favorite art forms are theater, drawing, and dancing. I really enjoy spending time with my friends and family and I love to have conversations about anything and everything. I want to open my mind and connect with the whole world to understand it better!

I love Vanessa. The feedback asked me to describe teaching styles she used, but only allowed me to select 3, which was difficult bc honestly, she used all of them…presents, explains, guides, gives examples, collaborates, asks questions, facilitates, and encourages. Learning another language is difficult. Many times we want to be perfect and are afraid to make mistakes because we don’t want to sound silly, and as a perfectionist, this is sooooo me. But I can honestly say, Vanessa is the first tutor I’ve had (and I’ve had quite a few) that I’m not afraid to make mistakes with. I don’t feel judged by her and she is very relatable. She came with lesson plans that I really love because I need structure rather than random conversation and she is very patient. Needless to say, I’ll continue to book with her, and you should too!💕

Honestly, I tried 6 tutors over the past two weeks (because I'm a crazy person who wanted to find the best tutor for me), and Vanesa REALLY came through! Not only did she set goals for me (because this is a struggle area for me), she said we would find my learning style together. She also gave me plenty of resources to learn outside, and said we would incorporate the resources I am already using. Finally, we practiced some pronunciation, and she got close to the camera to show me how to roll my R and pronounce T in Spanish. I've never had a tutor show such attention to detail. Vanesa mentioned that she loves beginners because she can see our progress, so it made me feel like less of a burden as I did when I had to keep asking other tutors to slow down or repeat themselves. This first lesson was 10/10 stars!

In February, I couldn’t even say 1 sentence in Spanish. Today, we just had a 60 minute lesson and spoke using different tenses the entire time. I don’t know past tense that well (at all), but I was trying to conjugate and create sentences on the spot, without notes, and Vanesa was SUPER patient and encouraging. I made up a lot of words so we laughed a bit, too. Bottom line- I wouldn’t be able to SPEAK in Spanish if it wasn’t for Vanesa, not only because she’s a great teacher, but because she cultivates an environment of trust and confidence. Like I said, I made up a lot of words today. Even though they were wrong, I wasn’t scared. It felt so natural to just try and be corrected. 10000/10000 will always recommend ;)
