Hi, I'm Michelle! I'm from Sydney, Australia. My native language is English, which I speak with a standard Australian accent, and I also speak fluent German.
I am a highly experienced teacher, as I have spent over 25 years teaching mathematics in Australia. A few years ago, I completed a linguistics degree and shifted my focus to language teaching, which is now my main occupation (I teach English and German).
I absolutely love working here on italki, because it allows me to use my teaching skills to help so many people from such a wide range of countries and cultures. Since I am also an active language learner, I have a clear understanding of the typical challenges my students face.Me as a Teacher
My lessons are ideally suited for the following types of students:
English lessons:
- Adults with an intermediate or advanced level of English who have a good general understanding of English grammar, but need to improve their speaking, pronunciation, listening and comprehension skills to become more confident communicating with native English speakers
- Someone who plans to live in or visit Australia OR is a native German speaker
German lessons:
- English speakers (native or non-native) at the beginner or intermediate stages of their German learning journey who want to improve their understanding of German grammar

English lessons:
I help adults develop the skills they need to speak and understand authentic conversational English, particularly in Australia. During the lessons, we can discuss a range of different topics, and I will correct your mistakes and answer any questions you have. I can also assist with English pronunciation, listening, reading and writing skills.
German lessons:
I teach German grammar in English for English speakers, as grammar is much easier to understand when it is explained in your own language. My students find it invaluable to gain insights from a fellow English speaker who has learned German as an adult.My teaching material
