Shalom! My name is Maoz (ืืขืื). I'm a certified teacher of Hebrew as a foreign language and have been teaching here for quite a while now.
I'm passionate (some might say obsessive) about languages and history, though I'm generally curious about pretty much anything and am glad to talk about any topic. I'm fond of etymology and the roots of words, and learning languages myself has taught me a few tricks over the years concerning language acquisition. I enjoy sharing and making use of my experience in order to help you along your road with Hebrew.
Insegno anche molto volentieri in italiano!
Me as a Teacher
I structure my lessons based on the student's needs and can adjust to the student's level of knowledge.
Having a thorough understanding of the rules and structure of the language, I am comfortable explaining them both with and without all the complex grammatical terminology. Very often when we learn a new language we hit some hard points, for example when we don't understand why a certain sentence is phrased in a certain manner, or why one word is used rather than the other. I'm more than prepared to help simplify all those things and make the learning process easier.
My lessons & teaching style
I like to work on all aspects of language acquisition, including ones often neglected, such as pronunciation and intonation, how to remember difficult words more efficiently, colloquial language and more.
I use a variety of textbooks (the classic ones used in Ulpan classes in Israel) together with my own exercises and, for more advanced students, short stories and news/video articles.
All levels welcome - if you are a complete beginner we can begin from the very beginning, learning how to read the alphabet without the vowel signs (a seemingly daunting task at first, but not at all impossible!). If you already have experience with Hebrew, we can pick it up and build on previous knowledge.

Maoz has been teaching me for almost a year now. He is an extraordinarily skilled language instructor with exceptional teaching skills, a wide breadth of knowledge, unusual intelligence (although he dislikes wearing this badge), the ability to adapt content to our - student - needs, and he has the patience of Job. He has the ability to make the complex simple... all in the target language, in Hebrew.

Maoz is a great Hebrew teacher. I have learned so much from him in the year that we worked together. He has excellent materials and is the most patient teacher that I have ever had. He has a well-thought-out system for teaching you Hebrew in a manageable way. He is the easiest person for me to speak Hebrew with. His method is very practical. He gives you good homework and it has helped me progress much faster because of it.

Maoz is a great teacher, he can lead a 60 minutes class talking only in Hebrew with an absolute beginner like me. Astonishing patience, great abililty to nurture students respecting their natural pace of learning.
