Hi! My name is Mai😊
I have many years of experience in teaching Japanese, I'm a certified Japanese teacher.
My hobbies are singing, playing a variety of musical instruments and learning some languages. I'm learning Chinese and German.
Now I live in Yokohama, Japan with my husband, he is from the UK🇬🇧. He and I always talk in English and so I’m used to speaking in English on a daily basis. Even if you are a complete beginner, you don't need to worry!Me as a Teacher
In 2019, I taught Japanese and Japanese culture at a senior high school in Taiwan which inspired me to start teaching Japanese online. 🇹🇼 🇯🇵
Before I went to Taiwan, I taught English to junior high and senior high school students at a cram school in Japan.
I am currently teaching Japanese online to students from all over the world! I’ve already taught so many lessons on a different online platform, and I joined italki in 2024😊My lessons & teaching style
I use my cute & fun original teaching materials designed for lots of speaking practice, you can expect immediate results!
1. Indirect method
I teach using the ‘indirect method’, so I can teach you Japanese using English!
2. Focusing on speaking
In my lessons, the first 5-10 minutes are spent chatting, then 5-10 minutes explaining grammar, and the rest is speaking practice!
3. Immediate results
After about five lessons with me, you will be able to have simple conversations using adjectives. After ten lessons, you will be able to use verbs, so your conversation skills will improve dramatically. If you take lessons twice a week, you will gradually be able to speak Japanese in about a month!My teaching material

Mai-san is a great teacher! I enjoyed the lesson! She treats you like a friend, but also is very professional. I’m a beginner but I understood everything, she spoke Japanese clearly. She explained the grammar point in English, which was very helpful! I highly recommend her lessons!!
