Picture of "Krishna Mandir" from eye- window (Akhi Jhyaal) of "Patan Durbar Square", UNESCO'S World Heritage Site. This was taken by me in year 2023. I fall in love with this place every time I see this picture. The Akhi Jhyaal in Nepali, or "eye window," is a unique feature in traditional Newari architecture of Nepal, especially in the Kathmandu Valley. These intricately carved wooden windows serve both a practical and symbolic purpose. Beyond allowing light and air into homes, they symbolize divine watchfulness, reminding people of the presence of protective deities. The eye window also represents insight and enlightenment, embodying the spiritual awareness valued in Nepalese culture. This beautiful craftsmanship showcases Nepal's rich heritage, connecting people to their ancestry and preserving Newar identity through generations.
