My name is Mike and I´m 40 years old. I was born and raised in the Netherlands so I´m a Dutch native speaker. I also speak English fluently. I love the Dutch language especially because of its language jokes.
I’ve got a wide range of things that interest me: I like to be up-to-date with news items around the globe, love watching movies, like playing sports and I recently started to enjoy cooking as well. Enough topics to talk about.Ich als Lehrkraft
Together with my wife we regularly do voluntary teaching work at schools in Surinam (South America) where they also speak Dutch. In that form I am used to both teaching groups as individuals.
I have got a bachelor degree in Economics and Law and have 13 years of experience at a legal department of a public organization of chartered accountants. By practice I´ve learned to say difficult things in a simple manner, easy to understand.
For some time I also worked as a recruiter, so I can also help you out with application forms and prepare you for a job interview.

My goal is to make you feel relaxed and to be yourself during class. Therefore you are allowed to tell me the topic you want to talk about and I will adjust it to your level. Learning a language is all about making mistakes, so the best thing you can do is to be ready to laugh about it and we will have a great time!
I will prepare the topic of your choice and select words that you can use in real life conversations. During class we will learn new vocabulary and train how to pronounce them. After that we will train by means of conversation exercises or an interview with questions. To vary we also read short articles, analyze videos of news items and listen to songs to discover its lyrics.Mein Unterrichtsmaterial

Mike is een van de beste docenten die ik ken op italki voor Nederlands lessen. Ik heb veel lessen met hem gehad en hij was altijd punctueel. Daarnaast waren alle lessen goed gestructureerd en gericht op mijn aandachtspunten en verwachtingen. Hij heeft me voorbereid op Het C1-medische assessment. Dankzij hem kan ik nu beter Nederlands spreken en schrijven.

Mike is a perfect teacher! With him I started finally to talk, not just to read or listen. He is not pushy at all, but pulls dutch words out of your mouth easily. And he’s always good prepared for the lesson: a lot of exercises and examples are always ready. Mike even remembers mistakes from the previous lesson, my personal bugs in grammar and pronouncing, so next lesson we always work on it. I highly recommend this teacher, but a bit afraid that soon he can be too occupied 😜

Mike is a great Dutch tutor especially if you're looking for medical Dutch practice. He determines very well what should be focused and prepares a lesson plan accordingly.
