My name is Ruggero, I’m a 39 year-old Italian and a professional teacher. I live in Sicily where I work as a teacher in public schools in the morning and as a private teacher in the afternoon in my school of languages. I have several hobbies, I enjoy playing the guitar, playing tennis and football and I have a passion for films. What I like best, though, is travelling.

I have a Master’s degree in foreign languages taken at the University of Catania. I have been teaching for about 8 years now. I started working at one of the local hospitals in town where I taught English and Spanish to medicine students and doctors. In 2015 I set up a school of languages which I run and where I still teach English and Italian today (along with other fellow teachers). I’m a qualified TEFL teacher, qualification that I got by joining a 120-hour TEFL course, held at school, given by an expert TEFL teacher, and I have got a Certificate of Proficiency in English (level C2). I tend to focus my lessons on three main aspects: grammar, pronunciation and practice. It much depends on my students’ level, but I would typically start a course with phonetics as I believe it is essential not only to get yourself understood, but also to understand others. I try to make grammar the most fun possible making a massive use of drill exercises that will enable students to use the language without too much thinking.
Because I don’t want to make my students feel uneasy I try to be easygoing when I teach them and avoid putting too much pressure on them.
