Hallo!
Ich heiße Ruth, komme ursprünglich aus Wien, aber lebe schon länger in Berlin.
Mit Sprache zu arbeiten, ist meine Leidenschaft - ich unterrichte seit 2018 als ausgebildete Lehrerin Deutsch als Fremdsprache, sowohl in Gruppen- als auch Einzelunterricht und bin auch in der Filmbranche als Drehbuchautorin tätig.

My name is Ruth, I'm originally from Austria, but I have been living in Berlin now for quite a while.
I love to work with language - since 2018 I have been teaching German as a foreign language and have experience working with groups and individual students. Further to this, I also work as a professional screenplay writer.عني كمعلّم
Mein Unterricht ist zielorientiert und strukturiert und mir ist es sehr wichtig, die Inhalte genau auf die Wünsche der Schüler*innen abzustimmen.
Ich achte darauf, meinen Teilnehmer*innen die Zeit zu geben, die sie brauchen und den Unterricht mit Humor und Kreativität zu gestalten. Gleichzeitig liegt mein Fokus darauf, die deutsche Sprache mit Präzision und Klarheit zu vermitteln.
My lessons are goal-oriented and have a clear structure. It is very important to me to tailor the content to the students´ wishes.
I make sure to give my students the time they need and I also use humor and creativity to activate learning. At the same time, I take great care to communicate clearly and concisely.دروسي وأسلوب تدريسي
Ich arbeite sowohl mit Lehrwerken und ergänze sie durch weitere Materialien und ich gestalte aber auch selber Unterrichtsunterlagen individuell für meine Student*innen. Im Unterricht spreche ich bevorzugt nur Deutsch, kann aber auch gerne auf Wunsch Inhalte auf Englisch erklären.
I work with textbooks and supplement them with other materials and I also design many teaching materials individually for my students. In class I prefer to teach in German only, but if requested I can also clarify something in English.

Bescheinigung - Volkshochschule Berlin Mitte - 2018Im Rahmen dieser Weiterbildung habe ich sowohl den Präsenzunterricht von 140 Unterrichtseinheiten als auch die Selbstlernaktivitäten im Rahmen von 140 Unterrichtseinheiten erfolgreich absolviert. Teil der Ausbildung war es auch, Deutschklassen unter Supervision zu unterrichten. Zudem habe ich ein ausführliches Portfolio erstellen müssen um die Ausbildung erfolgreich abschließen zu können, für das ich u. a. neben einer Lehrwerkanalyse auch die Erstellung eines Unterrichtsplans erarbeitet habe.

Wie immer war es schön, eine Sprachstunde mit Ruth zu haben. Es gefällt mir, dass wir oft über aktuelle Ereignisse ins Gespräch kommen. Ich lerne bei jedem Gespräch etwas Neues. Danke Ruth!

Another excellent lesson with Ruth discussing the use of alternatives to "weil". We looked at "aufgrund", "wegen", "deswegen" and "deshalb" in the context of discussing why people voted for AfD in Thüringen and Saxony. Ruth gives me plenty of opportunities to speak German and listen.

Ein tolles Gespräch! Wir haben uns zusammen kurze Videos über aktuelle Themen in Deutschland angeschaut. Anschließend haben wir darüber diskutiert. Um das Gespräch in Gang zu halten, stellte Ruth viele interessante Fragen, die zum Nachdenken anregten. Ich habe viel gelernt und viel geredet. Ich freue mich schon auf unser nächstes Gespräch!

Another great lesson with Ruth. We were able to have a conversation about my day and then discussed the lyrics of a song by the German band "Die Ärtze". Ruth tries to get me to work out the meaning of words that I do not know. This usually works and it is fun trying to work out the meaning of new words. Although we did not do so today, Ruth often gets me to watch and listen to videos. Beforehand, she will give me a few questions that I need to try and answer after watching and listening. This is good practice for trying to understand what is being said by German speakers who are not trying to speak to learners.

We looked at two film clips giving two different perspectives on the Red Army Faction and discussed the differences between the two films and their perspectives. This gave me ample opportunity to speak German and learn some new vocabulary. Ruth has challenged me to discuss some event from British history on which commentators have taken different perspectives. This will be a challenge indeed to do in German. As always, Ruth's lessons are good fun.
